Winners of the library book selection. As part of their independent reading assignment, and as a result of their well-written persuasive letters to Mrs. Thoreson, these students helped select new books for the school library.
The goal of the Independent Reading Project (often called the AR project) is to provide students with the opportunity to explore their reading preferences, select leisure reading material that is aligned with their reading levels and interests, learn and utilize reading strategies, and participate in scheduled Silent Sustained Reading (SSR) class time. The ultimate goal is to help them develop into confident readers while being a part of a reading community.
