Letter Poems (Advanced ELA 12: The Great Gatsby)
Dear Tom
You have everything A beautiful wife An extravagant life A baby girl A lot of money A house in the East Egg But yet You don't realize how easy you have it Treating others with disrespect Having an affair You refuse to divorce And marry the lower class Myrtle You had it all A big football player A Yale graduate But too stupid To see how bad natured you are Not a gentleman Breaking a woman's nose Fix your life Not so sincerely Not Matt Peterson Dear Daisy,
You are amazing You are beautiful You are my everything I cherish my time with you And you give my life meaning I really wish you could see How much you mean to me Tom looks right through All the things you do You're such a great wife He should have an amazing life You have such a big heart Please give me a fresh start Love, Gatsby |
Dear Jay,
I fell in love with you when we were young, and you did the same. You left for the war; I found another man. Tom’s old wealth swung my heart towards him. “Take me back,” you implored. I almost changed my mind after reading your letter. I married Tom anyway. I was very much in love, beginning. His love affairs, his abuse… he betrays. Although he neglects me, I stay with him. I miss you, but your chances are quite slim. Sincerely, Daisy. Dear Tom,
You had the world in your hand, But that wasn't enough to make you a happy man. You have a wife who's prettier than the stars, But you're cheating with a woman who's just after your cars. How could you cheat with such an ugly hag? How did you feel seeing her in a body bag? You really are horrible, this is true, Why isn't Daisy with Gatsby instead of you? Sincerely, Concerned Reader Dear Daisy,
I love you with all of my heart. Come into my arms, for we have a future to start. I can give you everything you've ever dreamed of. You don't need Tom. I know I am the man you really love. Leave him, Together there isn't anything we can't rise above. Please choose me, I promise you I will never leave. Love, Gatsby |
Dear Gatsby,
My love for you
Is never ending
Like space and time
My love for you
Is also forbidden
Like drinking and affairs
Even though my love for you
Is complicated and frustrating
I will forever love you
Love, Daisy

Even though my love for you

I will forever love you
Love, Daisy
Dear Gatsby,
I look for you in places you can't be Being rich is never as it seems You learned that the hard way My heart is forever hardened Angry and once half in love, I stare at your house My ears still hear sweet symphonies Why did you seem so cool? Your pool still smells of iron Broken furniture takes place of the parties you once held Cursing your name, I am tremendously sorry I smash and break things Then retreat back to my money and vast carelessness From your former lover, Daisy |
dear daisy
what have we done to each other, my love? though that's the thing, i suppose you aren't my love you are his you aren't the daisy i used to know you are a new daisy his daisy a separate person entirely i often wonder what happened to my daisy i see her in you sometimes the old you the new you which ones the real you? love, Gatsby |
Dear Daisy,
I left you too soon Your heart might be sore But I promise you this I will come back for more I'm back, I'm here Please come see me I want to be with you For all of eternity Sincerely, Gatsby |
Dear Daisy
Why is my love For you like a storm? Waves crashing violently Against the calm shore. Why is my love For you like a fire? The flames of destruction Burning my desire. Love, Gatsby |
Dear Daisy,
The days go on, the
season shift, all I
do is wonder. How
did we let our lives
become like this. A
completely joyous man,
turning into a pessimistic
human being. As I'm
taking a stroll, at a
party, or lying in
bed at nightfall, you
never leave my thoughts.
I treasure the time
we had and wish that
one day, I won't have to
wonder.
Yours truly,
Jay Gatsby

Dear Daisy,
My love for you is everlasting, How could you not see. You abandoned my love, When I gave you all of me. Why can't you come back, And stay with me for life To live with me here, And forever be my wife. Love, Gatsby |
Dear Mr Tom Buchanan,
It has been a while since you have gone. How is your life? I miss your company. Myrtle has been dead for three years now. Wilson’s is now shut down. I hope daisy is still your wife. New York is a bland place now since you have been gone. It seems that world is ready to see a new dawn. Sincerely Kierstin |
